This is my 11th year as a 4th grade teacher here at Tongass School of Arts and Sciences! Wow!

A little bit about me: I LOVE being on the water, driving boats, exploring, snorkeling, fishing, and swimming. In 2012, I graduated from the University of Alaska Southeast, with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and a Minor in Business Administration. I then earned my Master of Arts in Teaching in 2014. I love being a teacher and being at school with students.

I have been married to my best friend, David Rauwolf, for 24 years now. I was 20 years old when we met! We have been together for over half my life and we still laugh together almost every day. We have three children. Our oldest son, Patrick, and our daughter, Erika, both graduated from Cal Maritime Academy in Vallejo, California. Our youngest son, Luke, is a fisherman. He enjoys working outdoors, fishing, being on the water. I know it’s a cliche, but they really do grow up FAST! Being a mom has been one of the greatest joys of my life!

During the 2014-2015 school year, I was privileged to teach a combined 3rd and 4th grade class at Holy Name Catholic School, here in Ketchikan. I loved my classroom and students at Holy Name, but I made a change and decided to work at Tongass School of Arts and Sciences. I love the art and profession of teaching and I believe that students need to have dedicated and inspiring teachers. I love, love, love being in the classroom with students! I enjoy the energy, the questions, and the smiles!! I believe that young people need a strong support system – people who will provide guidance, understanding, and care. I strive to be one of these caring adults for your kiddo!

Here is a short list of some of my favorites, in no particular order: my family & friends, the ocean, boats, mosaics, mint tea, red & turquoise, orcas, my ‘68 numbers-matched Camaro, roller skating, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, weight lifting, landscaping, watermelon, big earrings, seafood, the beach and WAVES, ice cream, reading, houseplants, original colorful art, LIFE – as in STAYING ALIVE, and… humorous stuff!
